Every child is different, and such is not expected to have the same learning styles. We embrace the different teaching methods by Maria Montessori for the early years. We understand and use learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Read & Write and Kinaesthetic. We use the mastery of learning approach in our core subject areas and other learning strategies.
Our class sizes are small, which to allow our teaching styles to benefit each child. Children learn from each other, and we further challenge them with tasks using both theoretical and practical.
We encourage children to work in teams and emphasis that mistakes are not failures but a sign of putting in the effort. We teach resilience, regardless of the outcome.
This section is for children between the age of 18months to 4years. Also known as the Nursery School.
The learning approach is a blend of Montessori philosophy and traditional methods designed to meet the child's individual learning requirement.
At Nayville BS learning is made seamlessly by introducing their academics into their daily day-to-day experiences, which is extremely stimulating. They are engaged both physically, visually and intellectually at a very early stage. We help build their vocabulary by speaking to them and having a listening ear no matter the level of speech development. We develop reading skills by using Phonics at an early state and daily reading and listening in the early years. We help every child progress as the pace they can.
This section is for children between the age of 5years to 11years.
At Nayville BS, the Junior School helps children achieve better than their expectation using the British Curriculum with a blend of the Nigerian Curriculum. We motivate them using encouragement and their strengths to achieve high potential. Any child who makes valid effort will do very well in the Junior School. We use assessment to know their progress and also encourage self-assessment and an understanding of their learning styles.
The Junior School is made up of Keystage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) and Keystages II (Year 3, 4, 5 and 6).
We use both theory and practical to ensure the children have the proper foundation. At the end of each term, children are tested. We believe taking school activities home can also be made to be part of the playtime. We do not believe children should be overburden with excess homework. However, we believe that repeated tasks would only make them do better.
